We are hiring multiple positions for our Extraction Department for the role of Extraction Lab Specialist (Crystallization and Distillation)

Schedule: Monday – Friday

Shift: 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

About the Role

The Extraction Specialist is responsible for leading and maintaining extractions and processing for Cannabis derived products. Reporting to the Director of Extraction, this position involves leading an extraction team, implementing production scale processes as per target requirements. The main processes to be developed and optimized are distillation, crystallization and chromatographic purification of cannabinoids. The successful candidate will be experienced with Cannabis Extraction and embody an innovative and entrepreneurial mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Establish strategic plan for their cannabis program and target deadlines
  • Manager and deliver best practices for production scale purification processes
  • Write protocols for equipment and manufacturing process 
  • Support the management of batch records, SOPs and qualification documents related to manufacturing process. 
  • Coach and mentor extraction staff in operating production scale purification equipment 
  • Maintain and safeguard company policies, safety standards, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and current Good Production Practices (GPP)
  • Manage the development and validation of analytical methods for new innovative products for recreational and medical purposes
  • Develop in-process test methods 
  • Advise and manage formulation optimization and stability experiments, taking into account Health Canada regulations on excipients, daily tolerable dosages, ICH guidelines, Cannabis Act, and GMP scale-up where applicable.  
  • Motivate team to take timely action, resolving deviations in a timely manner 
  • Monitor progress to departmental goals with company strategy 
  • Identify and execute department goals & objectives and supports direct reports with achieving results and KPI’s.
  • Gather and analyze data, and automate data workflows

Job Responsibilities

  • High School Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent
  • Experience working with GLP, GPP or GMP will be considered an asset
  • Strong attention to detail, including the ability to detect quality defects and perform accurate counts and measurements
  • Strong teamwork skills, works well as a team member in a fast-paced environment
  • A reputation of being dependable and punctual
  • The ability to adhere to strict procedures and schedules
  • Effective time management skills with an ability to multi-task efficiently
  • Ability to establish priorities, work quickly, accurately, and independently with minimal supervision; demonstrates self-motivation and initiative
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills in English
  • A strong work ethic and a positive team attitude
  • The willingness to maintain an open mind and learn new techniques
  • Proficient computer skills including Windows-based operating systems, Microsoft Word, Excel, MS Office, and other programs and software as required
  • Passed all professional and legal background check
